Help Make It Happen
It takes money to make a movie, and we’re looking to round out our low budget to support our highly talented team.
10% of all funds donated to production will go directly to Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center, a non-profit supporting those who care for the aging & disabled in Joanna’s hometown region.
Through Del Oro’s “Adopt a Caregiver” program, just $700 can provide one month of respite for a local caregiver - which sets our fundraising goal at $7,000.
If we raise above $10,500, 20% of each contribution will be donated to Del Oro, affording 3 months of respite.
All donors will receive named “thanks” in the credits.
Joanna knows not just the value of respite care, but the work of Del Oro. She is grateful to be a small part of giving another caregiver a few hours to themselves to, maybe, work on their own story about a grandmother.
Of course, if you prefer, Venmo works. Just memo your email & mailing address (for Del Oro’s records).
FAQs

3 primary needs:
Paying our cast and crew, who’re working within a pay parity model, meaning that everyone from DP to actor to PA is earning the same rate;
renting equipment from local filmmakers, meaning rental fees support another artist’s future project, not a rental house;
and donating to a local caregiver resource center.
Production incidentals include insurance, craft services, accessible transportation, and, of course, COVID/flu tests and PPE. This crew believes in public health.

Founded in 1987, Del Oro is part of a statewide system of caregiver resource centers (CRCs) and serves unpaid family caregivers in California’s Gold Country Counties—Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Colusa, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Sierra, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba.
Del Oro offers free educational opportunities open to the public in this 13-county region and a suite of free services to eligible clients. In order to establish eligibility, a caregiver must be supporting (1) a senior with limitations in two more activities of daily living or (2) someone who has an adult-onset cognitive impairment (such as dementia). -
No, and that’s the truth. We wish we could make a return on everyone’s investment, but we’re not there yet (and short films aren’t really known to be a money-making endeavor.)
Joanna is receiving no paycheck from this production in the belief that it’ll come back around, and when it does, she looks forward to supporting those who’ve supported her.
You will, of course, be credited in the film.

Hopefully many places!
Outside of the festival circuit, the goal is to host community screenings in partnership with local aging & caregiving advocacy groups. And if you donate more than $1000 (!), Joanna will arrange a screening in your city once the project is ready to go.
We’re making this short as a proof-of-concept, meaning we’ll be shopping the project to future investors in order to make a feature length film.
Joanna would be happy to tell you more about it. Feel free to shoot her an email joannaglum [at] gmail [dot] com.
